A Haibao robot made his debut at Shanghai's downtown Infiniti Plaza at a celebration on the weekend to mark the 50-day countdown for the 2010 Expo.

Thirty-seven of the 1.55-meter tall robots will be made to help visitors to Shanghai. The robots have touch screens on their chests to answer inquiries about Expo and transport in six languages, and they can even take photos for visitors.

The Haibao robots will be located at Shanghai's two international airports and at the entrances of some major Expo venues.

The celebration also included children's operas involving Haibao and an exhibition of Haibao costumes and books.

Taiwanese singer and actress Angela Chang also performed.
